Take a trip back to Hong Kong between 1959 and 1960, courtesy of Ed van der Elsken, one of the most influential Dutch photographers of the 20th century.
Van der Elsken spent 3 weeks in Hong Kong during a 13-month round-the-world trip. He captures a familiar yet distant memory of the cityscape. A snapshot in time of Hong Kong’s inhabitants, views and daily life. Through van der Elsken’s eyes, visitors can reminisce and uncover now disappeared facets of the city.
With more than 130 photos on display at F11 Foto Museum in Happy Valley, journey through van der Elsken’s great warmth and hope for old Hong Kong, which he described as the “prettiest of harbour cities”.
