What started as a relatively small event to showcase beer to an apathetic Hong Kong audience has morphed into a massive festival five years later.
And today, when Beertopia 2017 gets underway at the Central Harbourfront, the two day extravaganza will boast over 500 craft beers, food from 25 restaurants, live music, beer games and more. Oh yes, and about 14,000 attendees.
The craft beers on offer will be from around the world – featuring 96 breweries ranging from 4 Pines to Young Master – and will include 80 beers made right in our fair city. As for the food, the wide selection will include dishes from Beef & Liberty right on through to Ta Korea. Expect to see a cider section, games, a 2,000 square foot outdoor shisha garden and live bands and DJs to keep it all pumping.
Tickets can be purchased onsite with a wide range of options on offer, including one day, two day and VIP options. The cheaper tickets
(HK$290-320) generally include one beer while the more expensive variety (HK$290-495) will get you 10 food tasting tokens.
Organizers claim tickets at the venue will be limited, so it may be best to book online. In other words, gone are the days when Hong Kong had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude towards beer….
