Hong Kong’s coveted art month is here! Every March, Hong Kong boasts a flurry of exhibitions, parties and performances that feature talents across the globe. While the influential people of the art world already have their tickets in hand, we schlubs can also enjoy art’s finest offerings by purchasing tickets on designated public showcase days. Here are whats on this month:


Art Central will be featuring over 100 leading international galleries, the majority of which are from Asia Pacific. There will be striking works from across the globe, illustrating the diversity and immense talent of artists within today’s contemporary art market. This time around you can enjoy six days of highly curated exhibitions, installations, panel discussions, experimental films, and one-of-a-kind performance art that are set to inspire.

Along with attending the exhibition, you can also enjoy a free tour with SCAD to gain insight into contemporary art and what it entails to collect art. Talks hosted by the Asia Society Hong Kong Center, including The Complexities of Text in Art, Queerness in Art – a Discussion with the Players, In the Public Eye: The Art of Creative Activism and Myths and Histories in Contemporary Practices. Or you can join an art workshop with UOB themed around ink, which aims to make art more accessible to both kids and adults. The workshops, which will be held at the UOB Art Space within the Fair are free for all Art Central ticket holders.

Art Basel – one of the most prominent art showcases will feature 248 premier galleries from 32 countries and territories. In an effort to put the spotlight on Asia, half of the participating galleries have exhibition spaces in within Asia-Pacific. The show provides an in-depth overview of the region’s diversity through both historical material and cutting-edge works by both established and emerging artists.

On top of their massive ensemble of art, you can check out their series of artist talks, including  Bodies in Practice: On Figures and FigurationStructure and Geometry: From Real to Abstract or Feminist Aesthetics?: Movements and Manifestations. For the film buffs, there are 14 short films to titillate and excite. And good news, entry is free for kids aged five and under, when accompanied by an adult.
